SPRINGTIME CONCERT BY RAINY LAKE COMMUNITY ORCHESTRA
“FLOWERS ARE THE MUSIC OF THE GROUND” *
GATHER ‘ROUND TO HEAR THEIR SOUND
The Fort Frances Public Library Technology Centre is pleased to welcome the return of the Rainy Lake Community Orchestra for their annual Spring Concert. On the evening of Tuesday, June 11, 2024, all are welcome to take in the melodiousness of these classical instruments. The performance will begin at 6:30 p.m.
The Orchestra usually appears at the Fort Frances Public Library Technology Centre for a Christmas Concert, as well as one in the spring. The acoustics in the library are wonderful and The Friends of the Library kindly sponsor these events. Bassist Magaret Sedgwick, former CEO of this library says the Great Space of the library was designed for such events.
The Rainy Lake Community Orchestra also plays each year at the Minnesota North College graduation as well as various events at Backus Community Centre. The highlight for the year for the Orchestra is the annual Rainy Lake String Camp held in Rainer, MN in mid-August. In addition to local members and members of the Junior Orchestra, led by Kathy Tompkins, guests come from as far away as Chicago to get together for a week of music, culminating in a concert at the Rainer Hall at the end of the week. There are two groups—the Sinfonia led by Aron Bohnert for less experienced musicians, and the Rainy Lake Community Orchestra, led by Joe Belanger. String musicians of all ages and abilities are invited to take part in this camp.
Without a doubt, this Spring Concert will be a joy and a catalyst for inspiring and creative energy within our communities.
