Purpose
The FFPLTC collects and distributes documents and other materials relating to the history of Fort Frances and the surrounding area.
FFPLTC’s local history collection strives to reflect respect for, and reconciliation with, Indigenous people of this area and its unceded territory. Some collection materials may have a historical colonial perspective. FFPLTC makes every effort to develop this collection to recognize and reflect all peoples who have lived here.

Material
Items to be acquired include:
- works and primary source material documenting local history and genealogy
- local research
- historical atlases and maps
The Fort Frances Museum and Cultural Centre will be consulted regarding the proper preservation methods for items collected.

Material will be collected dating from the earliest period possible to the present.

All subject fields pertaining to local history and genealogy will be collected.

Collections
The collection complements the collections of the Fort Frances Museum and Cultural Centre, and includes:
- oral histories
- cemetery records
- photographs
- newspapers
- personal papers
- electronic formats as appropriate

Circulation
Local history materials may be used only in the FFPLTC, and will not circulate unless duplicates are available.
In rare situations, a short-term loan may be arranged with the approval of the CEO or Designate.
