    Purpose

    Employees’ work performance and achievements contribute to the operational and overall success of the FFPLTC. The Board is committed to maintaining a performance management process that supports employee development and ensures that performance is evaluated in a fair, consistent and equitable manner. Through regular performance reviews, employees receive feedback on their contributions, recognition of strengths, and guidance on areas for improvement and professional growth.

    Scope

    Performance reviews for the CEO will be completed annually by the Board as per GOV-08 CEO Performance Appraisal.
    Performance reviews for unionized employees will be completed by the CEO.

    Performance Reviews

    While the term 'performance review' suggests a focus on the past, performance reviews also focus on on-going performance improvement and professional development. The policy and process ensure objective and fair decision-making regarding promotion, disciplinary action and termination and ensures that expectations and performance standards are met.

    1. The FFPLTC has a performance review system that is designed to:
      1. allow for open and ongoing communication between the employee and CEO
      2. align employee performance objectives to FFPLTC goals
      3. establish a clear understanding and agreement on job responsibilities and the competencies required to fulfill the job
      4. allow for regular feedback on performance, including acknowledging accomplishments, identifying areas requiring improvement, and determining what supports may be necessary to succeed
    2. Procedure

      1. The CEO will ensure that performance reviews are completed: when the employee is proceeding from the probationary period to regular status. Probationary periods are determined by the Collective Agreement; upon successful completion of the probationary period, annually thereafter
      2. the performance review will be conducted in a formal and private setting
      3. the employee will be given advance notice of the review (including a copy of the Self Evaluation form) in order to prepare a performance self assessment
      4. the employee’s strengths will be acknowledged and positive performance reinforced
      5. areas requiring improvement will be discussed and an action plan for development will be established
      6. both the employee and CEO comments will be recorded on the evaluation form
      7. The FFPLTC will ensure that the accommodation needs of employees are considered during performance reviews and when providing career development or advancement opportunities
      8. If the employee has a conflict or concern with their review, this will be recorded on the evaluation form
